David Fischweicher (Sculptor)

David Fischweicher has been a sculptor forever forty years. He has been working in sculpture for over 50 years. He began in clay and then wood. After many years David found that the medium of steel is best to outline various shapes in space.  He can explore the negative space.  He uses the negative space to explore sculptural songs.

He studied art at the University of Bridgeport, Cornell University, Westchester Community College and the Westchester Art Workshop. There he studied with Leslie Dor, Carol Stone and Barbara Segal. He is an associate member of the Monmouth Artists Guild and a member of the Monmouth County Art Alliance and a member of the YOHO Artist Group of Yonkers.

Mr. Fischweicher has shown with the New York City Art Teachers Association at shows in Sotheby’s, The Levitan Gallery and Flushing Meadows Theater. He has also participated in national juried group shows at the Bethune Gallery and the Seagrams’ Building. Mr. Fischweicher, under a grant from the Guggenheim Museum, helped students from P.S. 174 build a sculpture garden and a ceramic tile wall mural for the school. Lately, he has shown in Secrets Gallery (Hastings on Hudson), Windham Fine Arts Gallery (Windham, NY), the 2018 Ollom Art Festival at One Art Space(New York, NY), Westchester Blue Door, Urban Arc, Gallery 66 Forum (White Plains), and Gallery 48.

He has participated in juried shows at the Northern Westchester Council for the Arts and the 50th anniversary show at he Westchester Council for the Arts in While Plains. In In 2006, he was an invited artist at the Yonkers Mafiar for five months and at Iona College in April 2006. He is an award recipient for a New Jersey statewide art competition. He has been a part of the sculpture forum in White Plains at the Court House for the last three years, where one of his sculptures is currently hanging. David has also presented works at Ollom Art’s 2018 Festival.
