Artist Statement

Goddesses and Orishas

The following drawings were created to celebrate the divine feminine.

They represent five Orishas and goddesses that have been the spirits and energies since the beginning of time and have been embraced by many cultures.  Usually portrayed as beautiful, sensual, and powerful; I see sacred feminine energy that possesses the gift of healing the body, mind, and soul. I feel calm, strength, wisdom, and understanding, which we all need in these challenging times.

Starting with Yamanya, she is the sea, ocean, strength, and protection for us. The Goddess, Oya, is air and wind and transformation of both the inner and outer body. Oshun is the river goddess, representing fertility, love, and sensuality. Ostara, is fertility and new beginnings. Butterfly Maiden represents transformation and gives many blessings and connection with nature.
